The materials of place

Each painting holds the place that made it.

My creative process begins long before paint touches the canvas. I collect natural materials from locations that resonate with me: sea salt, minerals, stones and seeds. These are carefully ground and blended directly into my acrylic paints, becoming an integral part of the artwork itself.

In doing so, each painting contains a physical connection to the place that inspired it.

Artist statement

For me, painting begins with a place and how it makes me feel. I work with my hands, allowing the materials to become part of the process rather than simply something I paint with. I never set out to reproduce a landscape exactly as it is. Instead, I build each piece through layers of movement, texture and natural materials until it holds the feeling of that place and the memories I carry from it.
