The artist

Rebekah Ring

Also known as Rebekah Stovold

Rebekah Ring is an Irish Abstract Expressionist artist based in Essex. Working primarily with acrylics, she paints with her hands to create expressive, highly textured works inspired by the emotional essence of place.

She is an Abstract Expressionist who paints deeply intuitive works, capturing the emotions, energy and atmosphere of the places she experiences. Rather than reproducing landscapes as they appear, she translates her personal connection to them into bold, expressive compositions — carried, quite literally, by the materials she gathers from each place.

In her words
I paint with my hands. Each work is a physical connection to a place — the sea salt, the minerals, the stones and seeds of it, ground into the paint itself.
The materials of place

The work begins before the paint.

Rebekah’s creative process begins long before paint touches the canvas. She collects natural materials from locations that resonate with her — sea salt, minerals, stones and seeds — then carefully grinds and blends them directly into her acrylic paints.

Those gathered materials become an integral part of the artwork itself, so each finished piece holds a physical connection to the place that inspired it.
